I loved Blondie but not really enamoured of this one. I think we skipped 'Eat to the Beat', not one of her (and their) best imo. Didn't really like Union City Blues I suppose either. I'm more of a One Way or Another kinda gal. :-)

I suppose the lyrics for Shayla and the lyrics of Marianne Faithfulls 'Ballad of Lucy Jordan' lend themselves to a debate about whether they are about suicide or not. For me, the BofLJ is definately about suicide whereas my husband disagrees.

Wow, I've never heard that song before and I am now loving it. Guy's girl though I may be, I've fallen for a friend before and it was sorta like that. Didn't end with white dresses on the beach, but a great memory nonetheless. I think that's the way the best relationships happen...after friendship!

Now, I don't think calling Richard Harris out here is quite fair. He was actually a decent singer, as the video attests. It's the song that's incomprehensible (except, apparently, to Sean Rowley).

This is one of my favorites! I own the edition you have the photo of, and I think I'll be watching it tomorrow. There's something inherently endearing about Holly, she is my third favorite literary/movie heroine. However Holly's Webb or Ophelia Golightly just didn't sound as good. :)

I love that I inspired your post. That song is right on the money. I think women have done mankind a disservice making them over think their sensitive side. I want a man to watch football, drink beer, and play poker - yet also like to have fun with me. But I don't need the candles and the crying to know you can be sensitive :)

Men around the world are tired of being compared to the weenies out there who are playing women for the conquest, but if they ever had to be a man they'd be left in their bikini briefs looking stupid.

I have a sensitive side, but dammit, I do know how to set boundaries, abide by them and defend them.

Our society is really harming the gene pool by allowing the terminally stupid and unmanly to breed. I say we get rid of those warnings on the coffee in McDonalds that says you could burn off your genitals if you place your coffee between your legs!
